Weekend Homework

Now that Riley is in Year 7 he has homework to do on the weekend. We have a rule that all homework has to be finished by 8pm so he doesn't leave it til the last minute.

He does his homework on the dining room table but is so easily distracted by what everyone else is doing. I am working on getting him his own room so he can do his work on his own desk in peace.

Riley is great at writing down in his diary what needs to be done and  has handed all of his things in on time, I think he is worried about getting in trouble for not having it finished. Today he had Maths, Religion, Science and Geography, about 15-20 minutes work for each. Normally his diary is much neater than this but he seems to be able to read it.

On the left is the religion homework, to colour in the Australia map, and on the right is the safety poster he did for Science.

He has always been very good at getting his homework done quickly and efficiently but now most of his work is on the iPad he is taking alot longer to get things done.

First day of school 2010

This is the first year the boys have all happily posed for their first day of school photos.

Riley has a new teacher Mr Connor and is in another composite class 3/4C. He was over the moon with his teacher as he is young and plays lots of fun games. Also he and Ethan are on the same class again, now 5 years in a row.

Nathan was hoping to get Mr Bennett after seeing him play the guitar after last years graduation ceremony. Lucky for him he got him and was so excited with his new teacher and his classmates. He was also pleased to be away from Ethan and Christian as he didn't make the best choices when playing with them. Mr Bennett has whooping cough at the moment so his wife Mrs Bennett is filling in for him. Nathan loved that she used a glue stick as a microphone and everyone sang Happy Birthday to him since his birthday was on Saturday.

Cooper actually had his first day on Wednesday after missing the first three days due to our camping holiday and Australia Day. Darren dropped him off since Jonathan was coming over early for a play. When it was time for Darren to leave he dropped on the floor crying as he didn't want Darren to leave. He is in the echidna class with Miss Emma and was excited to be back playing with his friends Anthony, Jayden, Callum and Riley. He asked me to pick him up on the first day with the boys and a chocolate. He loved the Mars Bars and thought they had honey inside them, it was the caramel.

Riley this week you...

1. Had 2 sick days off school due to a nagging cough
2. Finally got to sleep at 9:30pm after coughing constantly for two and a half hours.
3. Enjoyed some ANZAC food on your last day of school including condensed milk, corned beef, camp meat, ANZAC biscuits and SAO's and cheese.

4. Wore mufti day clothes for last day of term.
5. Walked mud through the house when we got back from school.
6. Played Bratz on your DS and asked me not to tell anyone.
7. Packed your own lunch for school when I was running late, which included a large box of tiny teddies.

8. Had honey and eucalyptus lollies to try and soothe your sore throat.
9. Walked to the car with Brooke.
10. Made a whole range of guns out of textas and put them on your display shelf.
11. Had a meltdown when Cooper broke your "bestest gun ever"

12. Enjoyed playing the Wii while Grandma looked after you at Dylan and Jared's house while I did reading with Nathan.
13. Brought home your school report. Mrs Bouvet thought you worked very hard and had a "flair for writing". We were very pleased with how hard you have been working at school.

14. Wanted McDonald's for your reward dinner and loved the Ice Age 3 toys that you got.
15. Told me that you thought Daddy was playful and smart and that he was a good dad.
16. Played Runescape on my computer while the TV repairman replaced the TV. You asked me later when we got a new TV.
